A big thank-you to the 165 who participated in the class of 65 fortieth reunion.
Holding Helen's orange postcard reminders, some people arrived at the Red Lion on Thursday so they could participate in their elementary school reunions.  Others wanted to get settled and rested before the Friday morning golf game.  I guess they had a great time at the Indian Canyon golf course. Nancy Pemberton was in charge of them.

Friday night the shuttle took us to the Northern Quest Casino. Betsy and Jeanne
Crane greeted the arrivals.  The appetizers, selected by Betsy, were enjoyed and people started connecting with old friends and yes we are old, but we look good.  It was wonderful to see everyone.

Saturday morning was beautiful for the fun run which became the fun walk.  Craig Bush marked our route through Manito Park with orange and black streamers.  Our class runners, Craig and Jim Hoppe walked slowly.  I guess they didn't think we could keep up with them. The walk ended at Manito's Park Bench for breakfast.  We need to keep up our strength for the tour of LC that afternoon.

Bob Lobdell was in charge of our tour.  He gave an interesting talk relating facts about our school and teachers.  After all, he has been there for 38 years.  Did you know that Miss Danke paid for several student's college education?  We learned many interesting facts.
Saturday night was a wonderful ending to a great weekend.  Some classmates looked a little tired as they spent Friday night reading Kathy's Memory Book into the wee hours of the morning.  I wondered if they would be able to stay up and dance to Randy's nephew who was our DJ later that night. Luckily, Chris's name tags had big print so we could read them.  She said in five years the print may be even bigger. The food was great, the conversations fun, and the smiles were contagious.  The highlight of the evening was Mark Pearson singing his song "The Class of 65".  It was a very touching moment.  I guess it was a success as the class gave him a standing ovation.  Thank you, Mark, for your part in the connection we all have with one another.

Aren't we lucky that we still enjoy seeing one another so much?  It makes me look forward to August 2010, when we will celebrate our 45th.  Until then, we can enjoy Jim's web site which will be a record of our memories.

Until next time,  Dian

As the last of the reunion committee members drives down the street, I am overwhelmed by the feelings of how much fun our class has when we get together. Tonight I hosted a salmon barbeque because Larry Gray brought his wonderful salmon across the state and the committee wanted to get together. We are used to seeing each other every month.
Little did I know how sneaky they were at asking you all for a monetary donation for gifts for me. I tried to keep the reunion costs down and there they were asking you for more money. I have so little control over them.

But, aren't they the greatest and I love the gifts you gave me. My LC hat and vest will keep me warm on my winter walks. Thank you for the gift certificate from Huckleberries. They have a great selection of food and wine. Now I am the proud owner of Mark Pearson's song, signed and beautifully framed. It hangs in my home's entry. You are all invited to stop by and admire it.

I thank you for your generosity and for being an important part of my life. I'm blessed to know you.

Dian
